Play Park Redesign – Updated

Back in March we sent out a survey asking for your input on what you would like to see in our play park, we had such a fantastic response from this and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to complete and return the survey.

You may or may not be aware that the hall, playing field and play park are all owned, maintained and provided for use by everyone in the village by the Peace Memorial Hall Trust and therefore we do not get any council or government funding towards the running costs for these facilities. The funds to cover all the costs of these are solely made by some of the fantastic fundraising events we hold as well as funds raised from hire of the hall, these predominantly go back into the running and maintenance of the hall.

The current play park, in parts, is over 20 years old and as it is so well used, it’s just starting to look tired and starting to cost us in repairs, which, aren’t always the perfect solution. We are looking to install an entirely new play area, factoring in all the points that were raised from the returned surveys, including inclusivity for everyone regardless of physical disability and making the play park accessible all year round with new flooring.

We have had several companies in to provide us with designs for a new play park, all of which are costing around the same amount, this being in the region of £100,000 plus V.A.T, so as you can imagine this project will be a mammoth task, but with the support of the village and the hall committee I am sure this is achievable.

As this is a village play space we would invite you, the members of our community, to look through these designs and choose your favourite, once you have chosen your overall favourite, if there are any individual aspects of this that you would like to feedback on then please let us know and we will see what we can do.

Once we have decided on a design the fundraising will start, we are lucky that we’ve had a kick start in the way of a grant from the Parish Council of £800, so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming events and please support us as much as you can! As well as fundraising events, if you own a business and would consider sponsoring an item of play equipment then this can be arranged and your name would be well advertised in the park!

Options A, B, C, E and F also include replaing the short section of path from the Hall to the little bridge into St. Nicholas Close, replacing the astroturf with all weather flooring.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this and we look forward to your feedback and views. Please click here to vote for your favourite.
